Akean Resort,
Caticlan, Aklan
An exciting new
tourism center is being planned in a 500-hectare property in
Nabas, Aklan on Panay Island in the heart of the
Philippines. The Akean Resort Town is close to Boracay
Island, one of the world's best beach resorts and Kalibo,
where the historic “Ati-Atihan” Festival is celebrated. In
fact, it is the gateway to Boracay since the Caticlan
Airport is just beside Akean Resort. Akean Resorts
Corporation tapped the services of EGD Lopez and Partners to
master plan its property into a fully integrated tourism and
leisure township development, geared more as an eco-resort
destination with a wide rage of components in hotel, sports,
recreation, residential, and retail/commercial areas. The
luxury resort aims to maximize the property's 1.7 kilometer
powdery white sand beach, pristine clear blue waters and
rich marine life and diverse attractions. |

Mambukal
Resort, Mambukal, Negros Occidental
The famous
24-hectare Mambukal Resort on the northwest base of Mt.
Kanlaon is owned by the Province of Negros Occidental. It is
distinguished by exceptionally beautiful landscape and
natural attractions, which include a cool climate, thick
foliage, interesting rock and clay formations, seven
waterfalls and hot sulfur springs, among others. However,
through neglect and abuse, the resort lost as the premier
tourist destination of Negros. Then in 2002, EGD Lopez and
Partners was requested to master plan the redevelopment of
the resort. The new plan included new facilities, expanded
landscaped boating lagoon, a distinct entrance statement,
air-conditioned cottages, convention center, nature trails,
hanging bridges, zip line, picnic huts, swimming pools, hot
sulfur dipping pool, food courts and others. Mambukal is
among the very few successful economic development
enterprise undertaken and managed by local government. Its
success earned for the late Governor Joseph Marañon, the
honor as one of the “Most Inspiring Bacolod Entrepreneurs”
awarded by the Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship. |
