Another area where EGD Lopez and Partners have extensive experience and enjoyed wide international technological training and practical exposure is in the planning of industrial estates and technology parks.

Prior to the formation of the partnership, Arch. Estela G.D. Lopez was an Assistant Chief Economic Development Specialist of the Nationwide Industrial Estate Program of the National Economic Development Authority. Together with foreign consultants from Japan, UK and Europe, they formulated the planning standards for the establishment of industrial estates, export processing zones and technology parks, conducted studies on the regional industrial dispersal, and on the feasibility of industrial estates in different parts of the Philippines. She had the opportunity to observe several industrial estates in Latin America, Mexico, Panama, Jamaica and Miami and study the social and economic impact of export processing zone in Colombo, Sri Lanka and Kaoshung and Taipei, Taiwan.

After transfering to the private sector, she was engaged by the Export Processing Zone Authority to collaborate with highly respected foreign consultants in the preparation of studies for the full development of the Cavite Export Processing Zone, Baguio City Export Processing Zone, and Mactan Export Processing Zone under the 16th Overseas Economic Cooperation Fund (OECF) Loan Package. She was also hired by the Department of Trade & Industry to work with COWIconsult of Denmark in reassessing the export processing zones and industrial estates in the Philippines.

Lima Technology Center, Lipa City, Batangas

Lima is a 750-hectare development designed for Alsons Land Corporation and Marubeni Corporation as a new generation industrial park, fully integrated, self-contained, highly advanced and intelligent world-class industrial estate to rival some of the most advanced parks in Asia. The master planning of EGD Lopez and Partners was collaborated with Halcrow (London), SWA Landscape Architects (USA), Kroll Security Consultants and TCGI Engineers. The Center's unique and innovative design philosophy sets it above and apart from the rest because of its strong focus on a working environment that is not only state of the art but also very people friendly - where the overall welfare of the working community is a prime consideration.

Steung Hav Export Processing Zone, Sihanoukville, Koh Kong, Cambodia

The Conceptual Master Plan, prepared by EGD Lopez and Partners was for an export processing zone in the central area of the government-declared Special Promotion Zone in Cambodia. The project covers an area of 200 hectares where a new complete well-planned community will be developed anchored on the industrial estate as the revenue generator. Commercial, residential and institutional centers will provide for the requirements of the people who will be working in the industrial estate and the support industries vital to the operations of the locators in the estate. The plan is to develop Steung Hav Export Processing Zone into a new population center or a township cum industrial estate properly zoned and planned for efficient operation, which will bring together the essential planning elements of orderly traffic, effective security, adequate communications, power, water, waste disposal and other social services, including appropriate infrastructure and proper work space. The objective is to create a world class development attractive to the international community of industries.

Negros Agro-Industrial Estate and Export Zone, Sagay City, Negros Occidental

The 160-hectare agro-industrial estate and export processing zone in Sagay City was master planned as a fully-integrated, self-contained community complete with a community center, agricultural training and research facilities and commercial district, residential component, industrial estate and restricted export processing zone primarily to serve the needs of the agricultural sector of the Negros Island economy, which was undertaking an ambitious program to slowly shift its agricultural production to organic farming. The project is a joint venture between the local government and the private sector. It has been granted a license by the Philippine Export Zone Authority to operate an export processing zone, with all the tax benefits and incentives attached to the license.

The Partnership also master planned the 96-hectare Panglao Industrial Estate & Cyber Park in Panglao, Bohol for the Department of Transportation & Communication/Central Visayas Project Development Coordinating Council, 153-hectare Leyte Industrial & Development Estate in Isabel, Leyte for PKII/National Development Corporation, 150-hectare Industrial Estates for 3 Municipalities in Bohol for USAID/Local Government Units, 550-hectare Cabuyao Industrial Estate, Cabuyao, Laguna for Palafox & Associates, 150-hectare Industrial Estates in Ormoc, Virac & Catbalongan for the Department of Trade & Industry, 130-hectare First Cavite Industrial Estate in Dasmariņas, Cavite, a joint venture project of the National Development Corporation and the private sector, 300-hectare Victorias Industrial Estate in Victorias, Negros Occidental, commissioned by Victorias Milling Company, the largest sugar mill in the Philippines, Government-sponsored industrial estates in Davao City, Cagayan de Oro City, Bacolod City, Iloilo City, Talisay, Cebu and Malilut, Albay for the NEDA Nationwide Industrial Estate Program, 95-hectare Pavia Regional Industrial Estate in Pavia, Iloilo within the Regional Agro-Industrial Center of Region VI identified and commissioned by the Department of Trade and Industries, and the 100-hectare Bicol Regional Industrial Estate in Legaspi City, Albay in the identified Regional Agro-Industrial Center of Region V undertaken for the Department of Trade and Industry.
